Cat's in the Cradle

$500.00

12 x 12 inch, oil on linen panel, unframed

"Cat’s in the Cradle" was painted during a difficult time when I was worried about one of my children and carrying a sadness I couldn't fix. I wasn't trying to make a statement as much as work through a feeling. The title has nothing to do with the Chapin song, but the sense of danger people used to feel when a cat got into a baby’s bed.

I used a brush and palette knife along with cold wax medium, building texture and a soft matte surface that felt right for the mood. Sometimes emotions don't arrive as dramatic moments. Sometimes they just sit beside you quietly.
