Summertime grew out of an effort to let go a little and trust my instincts. I was experimenting with mixing representational and abstract elements and allowing feeling to lead the brush. The giant flowers and dreamlike space felt like stepping into a place that isn't entirely real, but still somehow feels familiar. Sometimes the most interesting places aren't places at all. They're moods, memories, or moments that feel real even if they never actually happened.
